We started as the provisional Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics Division of the Special Library Association back in 1973. Our members work in not just these types of libraries but also computer sciences, engineering, and many other areas. With SLA’s recent merger with ASIS&T (Association for Information Science and Technology), we are looking to the future for a new and exiting identity!
In preparation for submitting our petition to become a new SIG in collaboration with our former SLA Chemistry Community colleagues, we have updated the name and description of this community to reflect our broader disciplinary scope. Welcome to CAMMP!
Grounded in our legacy of dedicated support for specific scientific disciplines, CAMMP will strive to foster a vibrant community of practice for librarians and information professionals supporting chemistry, astronomy, mathematics, materials science, and physics. By pairing this merger with a streamlined leadership structure and a programming model that prioritizes year-round online engagement while preserving high-value in-person connections, we believe CAMP will provide a vibrant, sustainable foundation for the next chapter of our community within ASIS&T.
